Vince Neil told MTV News at the Rock 'n Roll Fantasy Camp that news of drummer Tommy Lee's departure from MÖTLEY CRÜE was greatly exaggerated. Neil explained, "What happens is, there's a press release saying that Tommy was out of the band and everybody jumped on that. But when Tommy issued his own press release saying 'no,'nobody paid attention to him. So he was never out of the band and actually I just talked to him yesterday and I talked to Nikki (Sixx, bassist) a couple of days ago and we're going to go into the studio in January and hopefully have a single out by March and a tour in June."
Neil added that the title of the album will be "The Dirt", like the autobiography the band published a few years back, but also said, "Who knows, in two weeks we'll change the title."
Lee's apparent departure from the CRÜE was made public in September when a leaked version of a lawsuit filed by the band against manager Carl Stubner and Sanctuary Artist Management stated that Lee had resigned.
Lee denied quitting the band in a statement issued a few days later, although he did admit, "My future with the band is uncertain."
The drummer quit the CRÜE in the late '90s, but rejoined in 2005 for the band's highly successful reunion tour.
Nikki Sixx recently released a memoir called "The Heroin Diaries" and an accompanying album under the name SIXX: A.M.
